Na temelju čl. 37 Statuta Akademije tehničkih znanosti Hrvatske, Akademija raspisuje
NATJEČAJ ZA DODJELU NAGRADA
AKADEMIJE TEHNIČKIH ZNANOSTI HRVATSKE
ZA 2009. GODINU
Akademija će dodijeliti sljedeće nagrade:
- Nagradu za životno djelo „Moć znanja“;
- Godišnju nagradu „Rikard Podhorsky“;
- Nagradu mladom znanstveniku „Vera Johanides“.
Nagrada za životno djelo „Moć znanja“ dodjeljuje se članu HATZ-a – istaknutom znanstveniku koji se posebice isticao u radu HATZ-a, za njegov cjelokupan znanstveno-istraživački rad u području tehničkih/biotehničkih znanosti i za višegodišnji doprinos napretku struke, s osobitim naglaskom na primjenu rezultata istraživačkoga rada.
Godišnja nagrada „Rikard Podhorsky“ dodjeljuje se članu HATZ-a – istaknutom znanstveniku za osobito vrijedno znanstveno ili stručno dostignuće koje ima primjenu i koje je unaprijedilo suradnju s gospodarstvom ili je pružio istaknuti doprinos unapređenju rada HATZ-a i njezinoj afirmaciji u svijetu, tijekom proteklih pet godina.
Nagrada mladom znanstveniku „Vera Johanides“ dodjeljuje se znanstveniku koji na dan objave Natječaja još nije navršio 35 godina, a koji je u proteklih pet godina ostvario zamjetan osobni znanstveni ili stručni napredak ili postigao zapaženi doprinos u području koje istražuje, te se uključio u rad Akademije kroz sudjelovanje na Skupovima i sl., kojima je HATZ pokrovitelj ili suorganizator
Prijedlog za pokretanje postupka za dodjelu nagrada „Moć znanja“ i „Rikard Podhorsky“ mogu dati registrirane znanstvene ustanove/organizacije, odjeli Akademije ili skupina od deset članova Akademije.
Prijedlog za pokretanje postupka za dodjelu Nagrade mladom znanstveniku „Vera Johanides“ može dati član Akademije ili odjeli Akademije.

Uz sve navedene obrasce i dokumente kandidati su obvezni dostaviti i
potpisanu Izjavu da su proučili i da prihvaćaju Pravilnik o nagradama Akademije.

 Assembly of the Academy Croatian Academy of Engineering held its 24th Annual and also Elective Assembly on March 14th, 2009. Apart from the members of the Academy, the Assembly was attended by several front rank officials from the field of education and science. Opening report was submitted by the President of the Academy, Prof. Zlatko Kniewald, Ph.D. with special review on the past mandate period. |

Thus the mandate of Prof. Zlatko Kniewald, Ph.D. as the head of this eminent and honorable Croatian institution ended. By a spontaneous applause the participants of the Assembly rewarded Prof. Zlatko Kniewald, Ph.D. for his successful leadership of the Academy in the past mandate. For the new mandate from 2009 up to 2013 (beginning with July 1st, 2009) the participants elected the President Prof. Stanko Tonković Ph.D., Vice-Presidents Prof. Miljenko Lapaine, Ph.D. and Prof. Vilko Žiljak, Ph.D. and Secretary-General Goran Granić, Ph.D. According to the proposals of the Departments of the Academy or scientific institutions in the Republic of Croatia elections for the promotion or admission of new collaborating members of the Academy have been made. 31 members of the Academy have been unanimously voted for the promotion into regular or associate members, as well as 22 new collaborating members and 2 correspondent members. The Assembly also granted Awards of the Academy for 2008, i.e. Award for young scientists „Vera Johanides", annual Award "Rikard Podhorsky" and the Award for life achievement „The Power of Knowledge“, which was presented to Prof. Juraj Božičević, Ph.D. for his devoted activities in the field of technical sciences throughout many years. "Annual 2008 of the Croatian Academy of Engineering" has been promoted as one of the publications of the Academy. 05.05.2009 CAETS – Euro-CASE Croatian Academy of Engineering has been a member of CAETS (International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences) from October 2000 and from January 2005 a member of Euro-CASE (European Council of Applied Sciences and Engineering). The cooperation of the Academy with CAETS and Euro-CASE has been outstanding all these years.
Some important events of this year: The Canadian Academy of Engineering will be hosting the bi-annual CAETS Convocation at the Westin Hotel in Calgary, Alberta from July 13- 17, 2009. This international event aims at bringing together the wisdom and experience of engineers and technological scientists from around the world to discuss how engineering and technology can contribute to addressing the grand challenges associated with the management and sustainability of our natural resources. The meetings in Calgary will commence on Sunday, July 12, 2009 and will continue until Friday, July 17. Traditionally the Convocation runs from the Tuesday to Thursday of the week, with Friday set aside for the annual CAETS Council meeting. To accommodate this schedule, the CAE Annual General meeting will be held on the morning of Monday, July 13 and the induction of new fellows during lunch of the same day. Euro-CASE Annual Conference The 2009 Euro-CASE Annual Conference will take place on 5 November 2009 in Stockholm (Sweden) at the IVA premises. The main theme is "Increasing Interest for Higher Education in Mathematics, Science & Technology "
